Look Younger And Live Longer

Do you want to know the secret to looking younger and living longer?

Male or female, regardless of your age...I know the secret and I’m going to share it with you.

And actually, the secret is not a secret at all. It’s common sense that these two things I’m going to share with you will help you to live a longer and more youthful life.

And they are...

Exercise and Healthy Eating.

So either you’re cringing or you’re celebrating. You’re either on board or you’ll do anything but eat fruits and vegetables and move your body.

Since I’m at the gym 5-6 mornings a week, and I’ve been at the same gym for over 3 years, I’ve gotten to know a lot of women. It’s become a bit of a community for me and I get to represent/as well as other regulars I see, a healthy lifestyle.

But some of the regulars that I usually see aren’t so regular right now. When I chat with them they tell me they have been talking themselves out of coming. One women told me that she finds any reason not to come. Even when she knows it’s the best thing for her.  It's crazy how we can do that.

Personally  I don’t make the decision to go, I just go. If I’m not working in the morning, it’s our routine. And here’s what’s so amazing about this. I don’t look for reasons or excuses not to go every single day. I give myself and my brain a bit of a break and just simply pack and go around 9am every morning I can.

Because, I know these things.

1. It’s good for me to have time to myself. I’m a busy mom of two early birds (my girls get up at 5) and after dropping my 5 year old off at school, my youngest Quinn and I pop back in to our home, grab my already packed gym bag and her lunch bag, get in the car and drive straight there. And  I get 2 hours to myself. That’s self love right there!!

AND...this isn’t only available to me. YOU DESERVE to have time to yourself every day too!!

2. Exercise keeps my body in shape and my mind positive.  I’ll either do the bike, the cross trainer do a hiit class (that one is intense) or I’ll be starting trx for the third session this week...that’s body resistance training and has taken me out of my comfort zone and challenged me, which is so good!! Our bodies need to be challenged!  And I feel strong...I feel good in my clothes. I feel confident. Exercise can do all of that.

3. Eating healthy foods keeps my skin looking and feeling vibrant and gives my body the energy I need to handle my day. When we eat junk food, we’re not doing our body or our energy levels any favors. I know it tastes good and I also believe we’re meant to enjoy decadent things. But we need to balance this with healthy things. Junk food should not be eaten every single day. And because sugar is addictive, it can be so easy to overindulge in things that aren’t good for us.

A couple of things that I’ve recently committed to doing is having a salad every single day for lunch. I finally bought a salad spinner and I buy organic romaine (quality does matter) and I’ll make a Greek salad, two portions at a time. Right now I’m working on creating this new salad for lunch habit so I’ve decided to stop trying to make something fancy and different every day. Right now it’s all about consistency. So red onion, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, i use a goat feta but you can use traditional feta, add some kalamata olives and often I’ll put chicken on top (and I make this so simple too by getting a precooked organic chicken) and then I make my own dressing using a light olive oil with dried basil and oregano. I also make 2 or 3 portions of the dressing at a time, and keep it in a mason jar in the fridge. I’m looking for simplicity, in addition to consistency and I know this is the key to creating a lasting habit.

I’ve also committed to kombucha every day. Kombucha is a fermented tea that’s packed with healthy enzymes that help you to digest food. I have a small glass after dinner and that’s when I take my vitamins as well. Again it’s about making it a habit.

Other things include staying hydrated. So drink lots of water.  And get a humidifier!

Get lots of sleep...if you’re a parent like I am this one might be tricky for you right now. Trust me,  I’m in the same boat. But then be sure to keep your mind positive and give gratitude for sleep every chance you get so that you’ll draw more of it into your life. Just trust it. You’ll get there.

Make sure to laugh a lot.

Live in the moment as often as you can.

Love your job.

Surround yourself with positive people.

Limit your social media time.

All of these things spins so simple but can truly help you to look younger and live longer ;)
