Reasons To Live

So, I’ve been a part of the GoodLife gym since I was 19.

I was lucky to learn at a young age that exercise was an important part of life and that making time for it every day was essential to feeling good about my body, kept me feeling confident and most importantly kept me in a positive mind space. And while I’m definitely an advocate for the gym, I’m not saying you need a gym membership to be happy, that’s just what works for me...especially now with children. The gym daycare gives me two hours to myself 5-6 mornings a week and you cannot put a price on that. What I’m saying is that moving your body, moving OUR bodies is super important and can contribute to how happy we feel.  And that part is science.

Anyways, the gym is always looking for ways to inspire their members and they currently have an initiative called  What Do You Live For?  They’ve turned one of the walls into a giant white board and offer markers so members can boldly display their answers. Here are a few I’ve read...

My family

Good health

Food

Happiness

Travelling

Hikes with my pup

Feeling great

Health care

Helping people (I love this one!)

Chocolate (I love this one too!)

Self improvement (amazing!!)

To keep moving

Red red wine

Perhaps that's one that you can connect with.

Lots of great answers.  And one that was erased, that I’ve chosen to share, read Nothing.  Now, I don’t know if the person who wrote this was being serious, but it certainly surprised me and it's SO sad to read that someone who is taking an active role in living a healthy lifestyle (they have a gym membership) wasn’t in a good space when she picked up that marker. And it really got me thinking about doing more to encourage and inspire people to really think about what they live for.

So I’m asking you to find a piece of paper and just start writing. Maybe draw a little stick figure of yourself or I scripted What I Live For and then without thinking just write all the words that come to mind. What motivates you? What inspires you? What makes you jump out of bed in the morning. What are your reasons to live.

And then do more of these things that make your heart sing. Make time. Give them a priority in your life. Your happiness is a priority and you deserve to be happy. Not just once In a while but every day.

Okay. Before I go I’m going to share my list with you.

What I live for...

Well first and probably the most obvious is my family. Deryk is the love of my life and we created Reese and Quinn, two magical girls that make us laugh every day.

I also live for...

Peace

Balance

Happiness

Health

& Love

I live to Learn!

And Laugh and

To help others

I love to Hike!  I live for nature

My dog Mazzy, my 12 year old golden retriever that I’ve had since she was a tiny puppy.

And I live To inspire others

I’ve included a photo of my list on social media and I’d also like to encourage you to snap a pic of your list to share with me. It won’t take you more than 10 minutes but it can make a Big Impact on your life. It will bring your focus to what really matters. And if you need help making space in your life for the things you love, remember that I offer coaching on Tuesday evenings and I can help you integrate some mindful practices or help you find more space and time so you can do more of the things you live for.
