It is so important that we lead a good example for our children. They mirror what they see. And they mirror what they hear. And that means that's our responsibility to show them how to handle their emotions, by handling ours. And that includes taking ownership for our actions and emotions.  And parenting, I've learned, reveals some pretty incredible things and sometimes those things are things we don't like about ourselves.
