The Gift Of Time

I’ve been given the gift of time.

I’m in a place of opportunity and it’s pretty exciting. And yet deciding how to spend my time has been a bit challenging.

I still work 6 days a week, and 4 of those are evenings (for those new to my blog, I’m a server at a fabulous little restaurant that makes food for your soul)…but my youngest daughter Quinn started jk a month ago, so this is my game changing year with both kids now in school. And a month feels like a long time but I’ve only just come to some clarity about how I’d like to spend my days.

I need to be a bit connected to the school with my youngest having type 1 diabetes. But I trust Quinn is being taken care of and that allows peace of mind, and all this extra time. I feel most comfortable when I’m 3 minutes down the street if they need me for anything, or at least close to home.

Until I came to decide where I would choose to invest my time, I did a variety of things that in the end made it very clear to me.

I continue to start most days with the gym (start to love exercise!!) and then I come home to have lunch. But for the past month I’ve felt a bit lost and not sure what to do. So I decided to trust the process and listen to my body. Some days I meditated and sometimes that turned into a nap and some days I read and that always turned into napping. And while this has been lovely and exactly what I needed, it’s not really how I want to be spending my time long term. Don’t get me wrong, I still nap every afternoon and I still meditate every night but my days have a little more focus now.

Because...I’ve officially enrolled in the Feng Shui Practitioners course and have begun earning my certification.  All that downtime allowed me to be clear on what I wanted.

I’ve also made new connections that have reminded me of my roots and what I want for my life.  It’s like this past week has been a giant canvas painted with so many colours. And while it may look convoluted to others, it’s perfectly calming and completely inspiring to me.  So many things in my life have become clear recently.

So I’m excited. Taking this certification is so obvious as I’ve been practising Feng Shui for over 10 years. Within the past year I also opened up consultations and have been applying Feng Shui fixes to my clients now for a few months. I had to decide if it was my ego that needed the designation or if it was something I wanted for another reason. And in the end I realized that having the designation will open some doors for me and having the access to the Feng Shui community will be beneficial to my business. Plus I get to learn more about this passion of mine at a pace that works for me, just 3 minutes from my daughter’s school.

Time is valuable.

Time is precious.

We choose how to spend our time.

Sometimes we need downtime.

Sometimes we need focus and purpose.

We find answers when we do what fills our soul.

So say yes to the things that feel right.

And say no the things that don’t work.

Meditate.

Read.

Have a warm bath.

Nap.

Reflect.

Listen to your heart.

Trust your intuition.

Do you.

And don’t apologize for it.

You too deserve the gift of time.
