Recalibrate

What a week. I went from 5 weeks off to working 54 hours in 6 days.

It was a balancing act and a scheduling success...and it gave me the chance to live outside of my comfort zone and grow. I’m really proud of myself. I learned an intense amount of information in a short amount of time and relied on friends to help in a bigger way than ever before. But I told myself I was completely capable of all of it. And so I did it, and I had soooo much fun.

But...I could not keep up this pace moving forward.

And that’s where recalibrating comes in. I’m reflecting on the past week and recognizing how I feel right now.

So it’s time for me to tune in and ask my body what it needs. And my body is saying loud and clear that I need a workout. My hips need the elliptical and my brain needs the endorphins. And that’s why even though I had plans to meet a girlfriend for coffee this morning and I don’t like cancelling, I had to be honest with myself. I can’t do it all and it’s time for some self-love. Plus I missed my girls like crazy, so it’s also time for some serious snuggling.

How do you feel after a busy week?

I have a friend who was in the same situation just a week ago and we talked about this very same thing for him. He needed a day of ‘slow and easy’ which for him meant a combination of studying, exercise and getting organized. And then he also took some time to recalibrate. .

It’s amazing to be able to tune in to what your body needs when you lose balance. And I get it. Some weeks are going to be busy, but for me, sustainability is so important. And exercise is a priority for me. My body needs to move.

My intense week of training only allowed for one day at the gym and I usually have a 3 day a week minimum goal. So my priority this week needs to be my health. So I’m off to the gym this morning and I’ve scheduled in two evenings to go also. I’ve ALWAYS been a morning gym person, but having a new schedule and working more day shifts means creating a new gym routine. But I know I can do it. It’ll just take adjusting and recalibrating along the way.

And same for you. If life is feeling too crazy and out of balance, take a step back. Think about what worked and what didn’t work. Tweak things so that you can move forward with more balance…so you can feel more peace.

Wishing you more peace, balance, happiness, vibrant health and lasting love.
