Merry & Bright

As the holiday season unfolds (1 week away!!) I want to remind you that we get to choose how we feel.

So instead of thinking or saying “I’m overwhelmed”, choose to feel happy.

Instead of thinking or saying “I’m stressed”, choose to think or say “I feel content and at peace”.

If this seems like a lot to ask, try one or all of these…

Take a deep breath and then simply, SMILE. It’s amazing how an intentional or even a forced smile can turn into real feelings of happiness. I had a conversation with a friend the other day about a laughter yoga class that I did 10 years ago. We literally walked around the room and laughed in other peoples faces. I didn’t know anyone. But that forced laughter turned into real laughter and it actually felt really good! It’s good to do things outside of our comfort zone…that’s where the magic happens ;)

Also, do things one step at a time or one gift at a time!  You don’t have to look at the whole picture if that picture in your mind sends you into panic mode or into a stress mess!!

Stay present. Put your phone down and put on some Christmas music and get into the Christmas spirit! Crank the tunes in your car… sing your heart out as you wrap! I know that’s my plan. I haven’t started wrapping a single present yet, but I have tonight reserved for that and I’m going to pour a glass of red and enjoy it. When you make the time for things, it’s not stressful at all. I learned a year ago from a friend not to save it all for Christmas Eve. (That’s me in the past!!) Reserve that night for a cozy Christmas movie with someone you love instead ;)

And don’t be afraid to say no!! You don’t have to go to every holiday party you’re invited to. Say yes to the ones that you genuinly want to go to, and ditch the rest. You don’t have to say a thing other than “Sorry, I can’t make it”. You don’t have to say why. It’s no ones business but your own. Doesn’t that feel like relief?!!

You deserve to feel happiness. Be intentional and choose happy and you’ll truly start to feel it.

Live the life you deserve to live.

Making spirits bright,

Sandy xo
